Privacy & data protection
Most of this site is informational. We use Google Analytics to understand how the site is used, and the honey auction collects a small amount of personal information from bidders so it can be administered fairly.
Website analytics
Google Analytics
We use Google Analytics, configured with measurement ID G-6ETST41EQH, to understand aggregate website usage such as page views, device or browser information and how visitors navigate the site. Google may process technical identifiers and related usage information in accordance with its own privacy practices.
Analytics data is used to understand and improve the website. It is not combined with auction bid information for marketing.
Auction data
What we collect when you bid
We collect your name, email address, bid amount and timestamps showing when a bid was submitted or increased. We use these details only to operate the auction, establish the ranking, contact winners, record payment status and resolve any genuine dispute about the result.
The public auction page does not display bidder names or email addresses. It may display the current highest bid while bidding is open.
Anti-abuse controls
Technical information
The hosting platform may process standard technical information such as IP address, browser information and request time for security and reliability. Where the auction's rate-limiting feature is enabled, an IP address is converted into a one-way salted hash before being stored. The raw IP address is not written to the auction database.
If Cloudflare Turnstile is enabled, it may process technical information needed to determine whether a submission is likely to be from a real person rather than an automated system.
How we use it
No marketing from auction details
Bid information is used for auction administration only. It will not be added to a mailing list or used for marketing unless you separately and explicitly agree to that in another context.
Retention
Keeping information only as long as needed
Bid records will be kept only for as long as reasonably necessary to administer the auction, evidence the outcome and deal with any accounting or dispute requirements. Information that is no longer needed will be deleted or anonymised.
Photos and updates
Images and names
Project photographs and identifying details are published only where permission has been given. If someone believes a photo, name or update should not be published, the allotment society committee can review it and remove or amend the content.
